The HAM Bluetooth Card Switch is a retrofit energy-saving solution for hotels, Airbnb properties, villas, and short-term rentals. It is installed directly in the electrical panel using the HAM DinSwitchM, without wall cutting, extra room wiring, or visible card holders.

Guests simply carry a small Bluetooth tag on their room keychain. When the tag is detected inside the room, the power supply is activated. When the tag is no longer detected, the system waits for a configurable delay and then switches off the room power to reduce unnecessary energy consumption.

How It Works

Guest arrives

The HAM DinSwitchM detects the Bluetooth tag placed in the keychain and immediately activates the room's electrical supply.

Guest leaves

When the Bluetooth tag is no longer detected, a configurable countdown timer starts (e.g. 3 minutes).

Automatic energy saving

After the selected delay period expires, the electrical supply is automatically switched off, reducing unnecessary energy consumption.

Easy Retrofit Installation — No Additional Room Wiring Required

Installing a traditional hotel key card switch usually requires running extra cables from the electrical panel to a wall-mounted card holder inside the room. This can mean wall modifications, visible installation points, more labor, more time, and additional cost — especially in existing hotels or Airbnb apartments.

The HAM Bluetooth Card Switch avoids this complexity. The control device is installed directly in the electrical panel, while guest presence is detected wirelessly through a Bluetooth tag.

This makes it ideal for retrofit installations where property owners want to reduce energy waste without opening walls, pulling new cables, or changing the appearance of the room.

Depending on the room’s electrical load, a suitable DIN rail power relay may be required, such as 25A or 40A. The final switching equipment should be selected and installed by a qualified electrician.

Remote Control Through the HAM Systems Platform

Through the HAM Systems platform, property owners and managers can remotely monitor and control the room’s power output. For example, if a guest has checked out or left the property, the room’s electrical supply can be switched off remotely without needing physical access to the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if the Wi-Fi/Internet goes out?

Local Bluetooth communication between the HAM DinSwitchM and the HAM Bluetooth Tag continues to work even if the Internet connection is temporarily unavailable. The platform can also notify you when the device goes offline, helping you detect possible Internet or power issues.

Are there any costs other than the price of each device?

Using our app to view readings, logged data, graphs, set up automations and alerts is completely free. We have apps for Android and iOS devices and you can also access the full functionality of the apps with your computer via our website (hamsystems.eu). There is a small subscription fee for some optional features, such as phone call alerts.

Are there any security concerns from people connected on the same network as the device?

No. Network communications always go through the cloud, where permissions and authentication take place. Devices will not respond on the local network for security reasons. All communications between the cloud and the device are encrypted (in addition to Wi-Fi encryption), making it virtually impossible to read data or control devices, even if the attacker has access to the network and/or Wi-Fi credentials.

Our devices are designed and tested in EU (Greece). All of our devices have passed all required lab tests to have the CE mark affixed.
